Get a Taste of Victory
You can now try an award-winning beer without leaving Downtown Allentown. Brü Daddy’s Brewing Co. recently won the Silver Award at the U.S. Open Beer Championship, and you have to try the winning brew next time you visit. One sip of Black Sheep Schwarzbier, a traditional German-style black lager, and you’ll taste for yourself why it won!
Picking the Best Beers
Brü Daddy’s brought Head Brewer Todd Reinhardt onto the team in July 2020, and not long after he was already thinking of beers to submit to this international competition. “We took five of our beers, one of them being the Black Sheep, and shipped them to the judges,” says Kevin Ryan, owner of Brü Daddy’s.
The Black Sheep was already a favorite of Todd’s, who perfected the recipe himself. “The Black Sheep is a beer that Todd is passionate about,” says Kevin. “It’s a German-style lager, and it’s really crisp. It’s a great beer to have on tap when it’s cold out and goes great with pizza and burgers.”
The Inspiration Behind the Name
A great beer needs a great name to go with it, and Todd came up with a name that represented this beer perfectly. “I knew it was a unique beer that wouldn’t quite fit in, so it was the Black Sheep of the family,” says Todd. This time around, being a black sheep definitely has paid off.
